“Do not think of me as real,”
says the girl in the road
“Do not think of me as real, for I have never,
thought of myself as so.”

“And everything around you?”
asked the boy, stopping for a moment.
“No realler than I am,
an idle diversion wrought by my hand.”

He stopped a moment more, and she said,
“Don’t you hear the drums?
Pounding in your head? They’re
calling you on, send a postcard instead.”
