You and I

20 January, 2010 at 22:53 (Uncategorized)

And you and I are you and I
Forever and again
the calmness of this
is with me till the end.
You and I are in the eyes
and nothing now can mend
I let you in
you let me out
I let you in again.
And we are stood
with our clothes off
Lewis would approve
and we have slept
too many times
nothing left to prove.
All our eyes are you and I
and once again we know
this is where we’re standing
this is where we’ll go.

The Eye

19 January, 2010 at 11:27 (Uncategorized)

We are in it’s eye,
the choice that swirls outside
and I am begging that
Captain Oates not step in.
I can see a path that is no path
and the Trickster starts to grin.
Lies can only take you so far
Isn’t it more fun to tell the truth
the glint of teeth in the night
the shine of a blade is never so pretty
as the sting of what is right

the bard called more than he knew
down into this well of calm.
The leaves swirl all outside,
not yet, not yet
until the rain falls
and the storm breaks
we are in the eye.

Each voice a single voice
Each choice a single choice
and nothing unified
but the future holds
a way out of the eye.

“I haven’t fallen asleep with you in a while”
said Christopher to Alice. “But the sofa is strangely warm”
Alice looked up at Christopher with a smile,
peering over Sapphic verse. “I thought I’d try poetic form.”

What about me?

Are you asking if I love you?

Aren’t I always?

Of course I love you,
but there are different loves
and different ways
and besides
you’re a woman.

Am I giving something to the moment?
Or to the world?

Do you love me?

It is ever you and always you
and you again.
I write
with the last look in your eyes
as my ink.
I am surprised, how it has always been
since the day you stripped bare
and I began.

Happy New Year

2 January, 2010 at 22:08 (Uncategorized)

And I am swept, into the New Year
by your eyes
by your smile
and in your arms.
A rush like nothing else
being bowled over,
kissed in the best way,
hanging on your every word
and clinging
to you and the look in your eyes.
We are here,
in the night
and the cold
warmed by our smiles
and lamp-post number four
remains unvisited
for now.
