The sky is suddenly blue in Kirkham,
Briefly
Before becoming grey again and cloud-covered
But for an instant a dress swirled
As a woman turned
And looked
And gestured for my silence.
So I remain
Looking at the sky
My mouth half open
Struggling not to mention
Running across sunlit fields
Wine forever lost in the haze of a day
That lasted over lakes and coastlines
And months
Before it was over
Without my knowledge
Or even consent.
